Teacher of History or Religious Studies – 1 year fixed term appointment

Whickham School is seeking to recruit an engaging and inspirational teacher of either History or Religious studies to join a high performing and thriving humanities faculty.  Our Humanities faculty of 12 staff consists of a Faculty Leader, Deputy Faculty Leader, Assistant Faculty Leader and a range of practitioners from those with many years of experience to ECTs.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed individual to make a difference in the lives of young people. We place a strong emphasis on pastoral work and the role of a tutor, and use a restorative approach in supporting pupils. The school is heavily oversubscribed and results are considerably above local and national averages (progress 8 in 22/23 was +0.15).

Teacher of MFL – Permanent for September start

Whickham School is seeking to recruit an engaging and inspirational teacher of MFL with the ability to teach French and/or German. Our Languages faculty of 8 staff consists of a Faculty Leader, Deputy Faculty Leader, Assistant Faculty Leader and teaching staff with many years of experience through to ECTs. Pupil outcomes in languages are strong at both GCSE and A Level.

Support Staff Vacancies

 

Science Technician – Part time – 15 Hours per week over two days (to be agreed) – term time only

We seek to appoint a Science Technician to our school. This role is to work as part of a team of Science Technicians, supporting the Science Faculty with preparation for practical experiments, organisation of equipment, assisting teachers with demonstrations and the safe storage of chemicals.

Specific details regarding the role and skills and qualities that the successful candidate will need to demonstrate are in the job description and person specification, available with the application form on TES. In addition to this we are looking for someone who:

  • Has some experience of working in a laboratory environment
  • Has a passion and interest in Science
  • Has the ability to maintain specialist equipment
  • Enjoys a busy, active role with lots of pupil interaction
