Requests for Leave of Absence (LOA) During Term Time

We review LOA requests on a case by case basis, but as a general rule we do not approve leave of absence, unless there are exceptional circumstances.

  • Requests for leave of absence must be submitted to the Attendance Officer Ms Sarah Dewar at least four weeks before the intended leave of absence.
  • Requests for leave of absence will be considered and responded to via text.
  • Unauthorised absences can result in Legal Intervention and the possible issue of a ‘fixed penalty notice’ of £60 per parent carer which rises to £120 if not paid within 21 days.

The school is extremely thorough when investigating prolonged absences. We trust our parents to be honest with us and inform us of planned absences and holidays, no matter the potential outcome.

If a parent/carer needs to discuss an attendance issue they should contact Ms Sarah Dewar, the School Attendance Officer by email at sdewar@whickhamschool.org

The average academic year is 190 days long, please make every day count. Wherever possible please use weekends and holidays for everything else.
