Why Whickham Sixth Form – Pupil Voice

What stands out most about Whickham Sixth Form is the strong sense of community and the way students are encouraged to get involved in extracurricular activities. It is a place where individuality is celebrated and personal growth is valued as much as academic success.
A highlight for me was being part of the Charity Week Committee, where I worked with others towards a shared goal. This allowed me to build strong friendships, strengthen my communication skills, and feel more connected to the school community. It reminded me that leadership isn’t just about taking charge; it is about listening, collaborating, and supporting others. While Charity Week is a highlight for many in Year 12, it was particularly meaningful for me as it helped me develop skills that apply to real-world contexts, such as part-time work, and left me feeling genuinely enriched by the experience. ~Tyler Moore, Head Student

Whickham School has been a valuable asset to my progression as a person, and moving into Sixth Form is no different. The Sixth Form Team is incredible at supporting students in meeting all of their needs. In addition, there are countless opportunities within Sixth Form that have aided my confidence and teamwork skills, such as being part of the Student Leadership Team. Â
A highlight for me as a Whickham School Student was our Year 12 Charity Week, in which I helped lead a range of events such as the Variety Show. This was not only incredibly enjoyable to contribute to, but also was a great opportunity to boost my leadership and communication skills, which will benefit me immensely in the future. Overall, my experiences at Whickham Sixth Form have had a significant role in shaping who I am as a person, and I am extremely appreciative of this. ~ Emily Reid, Head Student
