We are seeking to appoint an experienced, dynamic and solution-focused SENDCo to join the SEND team at Whickham School. This is an exciting opportunity for a committed professional to play a key role in implementing our new SEND strategy and shaping provision across the school As the SENDCo you will:
  • Lead the strategic development of SEND policy and provision across the school
  • Be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the SEND policy and the coordination of provision for pupils with SEND, ensuring they make strong progress
  • Oversee the ARMS provision, supporting pupils with ASD and ensuring high-quality outcomes
  • Quality assure SEND provision at all levels across the school
  • Provide professional guidance and deliver specialist training to colleagues
  • Work closely with staff, parents and external agencies to support pupils effectively
  • Ensure statutory requirements within the SEND Code of Practice are met and remain up to date with best practice
  • Liaise with external agencies to secure high-quality support and provision

We are seeking an outstanding individual to join our senior leadership team as an Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion. You will provide strategic leadership for inclusion across the school, ensuring that all pupils, particularly those with SEND and those eligible for pupil premium, are fully supported to succeed both academically and personally.   As an Assistant Headteacher you will:
  • Lead and implement a clear, ambitious whole-school inclusion strategy, shaping provision in line with national developments and reforms in SEND and inclusion
  • Be accountable for the outcomes of SEND and disadvantaged pupils
  • Line manage the SENDCo and wider inclusion team, ensuring high-quality provision and support
  • Oversee and drive the school’s pupil premium strategy, ensuring measurable and sustained impact
  • Lead staff training and development to embed inclusive, adaptive teaching across the school
  • Work in close partnership with pastoral, safeguarding and curriculum leaders to ensure a cohesive approach to supporting vulnerable pupils
  • Champion inclusion – create a culture where every pupil feels seen, supported and able to succeed
  • Drive outcomes – ensure that SEND and disadvantaged pupils make strong academic progress and achieve well
  • Lead strategically – develop, implement and evaluate a cohesive inclusion strategy aligned with whole-school priorities
  • Develop provision – ensure high-quality, evidence-informed support for pupils with additional needs, including those with SEND and SEMH needs
  • Empower staff – build staff confidence and expertise in adaptive teaching through high-quality CPD and coaching
  • Strengthen systems – ensure robust identification, monitoring and intervention processes for vulnerable pupils
  • Work collaboratively – build strong relationships with families, external agencies and stakeholders to secure the best outcomes for pupils
  • Ensure accountability – use data intelligently to evaluate impact and drive continuous improvement

  • Responsible to: Exams & Data Officer
We are seeking to appoint invigilators to carry out effective supervision of pupils to ensure exam protocols are followed.  Supervising pupils during the eam process, ensuring their health, welfare and security during that time.  An ideal candidate will:
  • be reliable, flexible and readily available during main exam periods
  • have effective communication skills and good interpersonal skills
  • work well as part of a team
  • be confident and a reassuring presence to candidates in exam rooms
  • be able to give instructions and manage situations involving different groups of people
  • have basic IT skills (familiar with use of email, mobile phone messaging etc.)
