Summer Transition Programme – Information for Parents

In collaboration with our primary colleagues, Whickham School will be offering a summer school place to every child who is due to enter Year 7 in 2021. This will be fully funded through the DfE summer school programme. We will be offering an exciting blend of subject and topic based learning and engaging activities, with pastoral and emotional wellbeing support to ensure we have everyone feeling confident and secure.

Our aim is to give children the best start we can to their secondary education as we believe that a flying start is the best way to put the challenges of the past 18 months behind us. We are utterly focused upon the future as we slip the covid anchors.

Running from 8.45am – 2.55pm (with wrap around care being available 8am – 5pm where required). The summer programme will offer a well staffed, well resourced, exciting, engaging educational and reassuring experience for your child.  We are confident that participation will make a difference to the start we can make in September and ensure that every child has the best opportunity to make a fabulous start to their secondary education.

If you have not yet done so you can ensure your child’s place on the programme by completing this online form

We will be sharing more information about the fantastic programme of activities we have in store very soon, so watch this space!

The programme is coordinated by the trust central team who would be delighted to help make things as straightforward as possible. If you have any questions please email
