Key Stage 4
In Key Stage 4 students are given an increasing choice of subject and qualification options so that they may choose courses that offer them the best chance of success. All students should enjoy a curriculum that challenges them appropriately and prepares them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life. In Key Stage 4 All students follow a core curriculum of English, Mathematics and Science. Some of our students follow an academic pathway that enables them to achieve the new English Baccalaureate, which includes English, Maths, 2 Sciences, History or Geography and a MFL (more able students may choose to study 3 separate sciences).Other students pursue a mixed pathway, involving both GCSEs and Btec qualifications. We offer additional vocational qualifications through a long-established partnership with Gateshead College and other providers. In addition students receive Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHCE), ICT, Citizenship, Religious Education and Careers Education and Guidance.
