Key Stage 3

We believe a carefully prepared transition from primary school to Whickham School is essential if pupils are to settle quickly and confidently into their new and exciting environment. We have developed a number of transition activities in subjects such as English, Maths, Science and PE which, without doubt, mean our Year 7 students have a head start.

On joining the school all Year 7 students are placed in one of nine tutor groups. As far as possible the tutor will remain with the same group of students for five years, as well as their Head of Year and a Deputy Head of Year. This allows pastoral staff to get to know students and their families extremely well.
