The Annual School Band Concert was held at St Mary’s Church, Whickham at 7.00 p.m. The concert was particularly memorable as it was the last to be led by Mr Dutton before he moves to his new post in September.
As well as the performance of some superb ensembles and solos, the swing band also played a fitting tribute to Mr Dutton. One of the highlights of the evening was a superbly arranged medley of highlights from the numerous shows and concerts that Mr Dutton has directed at Whickham School. A number of ex-students returned to participate in this special occasion and to pay thanks to the inspiration Mr Dutton has provided for so many students at Whickham.
He will be greatly missed as Head of Music and we wish him every success in his new role.
