On Wednesday 17th June, we were extremely fortunate to host a visit to school by Dr Rhea Seddon. Dr Seddon was the sixth woman in space and had taken part in a number of important missions where she has been involved in some of the most successful Spacelab missions carried out by NASA.
Dr Seddon has a doctorate in medicine. She is married to former astronaut Robert Gibson and has three children.
In addition to talking to students about her experiences as an astronaut, she also outlined exciting opportunities for at least one student from year 10 or 11 to participate in the NASA International Space School in America this autumn.
Students were captivated by this unique woman who presented her extraordinary achievements in a humble and accessible way and provided inspiration for us all.
