The school is now fully open for all students. The fire damage has not halted events and a full range of activities have taken place, from a highly successful school production to Visiting study skills seminars for all year 11 and visiting theatre companies to all of year 9. Students in years 9,11, 12 and 13 have got down to their preparations for the important examinations that will take place in the summer term.
The fire-damaged block will be demolished over the spring break. Representatives have been on site arranging the delivery of approximately 12 temporary classrooms that will be installed over the summer term.
Please note this demolition work will not prevent any of the proposed activities taking place at school over the spring break. Please follow any movement guidance or restrictions to ensure safety on site. The Spring Sports Camp will take place in the first week. Many subjects have organised revision or coursework activities and these will go ahead.
In the long term, the damaged block will be rebuilt and we are continuing to explore the best architectural options for the future development of Whickham School.
May we thank all parents, students and colleagues for their continued support. We hope all members of the school community have an enjoyable spring break and that students return refreshed ready for the important examinations that lie ahead.
