The school will be open for all students from Monday 31st March, with years 7 and 8 returning. Heating has returned to our buildings and rooming reorganisations have taken place to accommodate all our students.
Representatives from the Local Authority have been on-site for much of the week. It is likely that the severely damaged block will be demolished over the Spring Break. A number of temporary classrooms will then arrive in to alleviate some of the present pressures on space.
In the long term, the damaged block will be rebuilt and we are currently exploring the best architectural options for the future development of Whickham School.
We have had numerous offers of sympathy and support from the Local Authority and neighbouring schools and organisations that have been welcomed in this difficult week.
May we thank all parents for their patience and support. With the full school returning on Monday, we look forward to a productive final week of term that will continue to prepare students for the important examinations that will occur in the summer.
