The track events started with the Year 7 girls 800m, which was won by Jane Edwards for the Eagles. Next up was Year 8 girls 800m, which was won by Amy Blythe (Kestrels). A very tired Amy commented , ‘Oh my god I feel great I am so proud ‘
Matthew Bracchi beat the sports day record with 02.20 mins in the boys 800m. After year 9 & 10 boys and girls had done the 800m it was time for the 100m.
All of the 100m races were very close. Sophie Douglas won for the year 7s and Hannah Bell won for Year 8, commenting ‘ I cant believe I’m here. I am really proud of myself and I’m glad that I won for the Eagles. ‘
At 10.40 the 300m started and by this time the track was soaked. Bethany Walker and Caroline Davison decided to cross the finish line at the same time in a show of solidarity against mother nature (Year 9). Amanda Craddock was first for year 10, Amanda said ‘ I can’t believe I have just done that, I lapped two people! ‘ Jessica Thompson (Falcons) ran the 300m in 61.60s she said ‘ god I feel amazing I don’t know where it came from’
Matthew Bracchi set a new record for the boys 400m at 1 minute flat. He said ‘ I am amazed a new record for myself! ‘
In the 200m Hannah Bell (Eagles) was very close to the record with a time of 32.1 seconds. Finally Hannah Bell, Abby Moffat, Sophie Dorner & Jessica Linfoot won the relay for the Year 8 Eagle girls by a safe margin.
Overall for the whole school Kestrels won
