The last sports day for Mrs Doherty was her final public farewell!
After 22 years of teaching with a break to raise her family Mrs Doherty is retiring. Her teaching and love for sports has encouraged students to proceed in a range of activities. Her teaching in lessons has made students learn about the sport being taught whilst enjoying the lesson. Finally her last sports day approached and she was awarded with a bouquet of beautiful flowers. She appeared thrilled with her gift and she also received a warm cheer from the crowd.
We asked Mrs Doherty her highlights of working at Whickham School and she said, “ My satisfaction is bringing athletes and cross country runners through the school and finally helping them reach county level. I also enjoyed promoting enthusiasm in students for a variety of sports. I will miss working with the children and being part of a professional, supportive and enthusiastic PE department
Goodbye Mrs D we wish you all the best for the future!
